Sue Hamerton gained a Diploma of Arts (Music Performance) from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne, Australia, before studying for two years with Professor Helfried Fister in Cologne, Germany.
After moving to London she spent 10 years as a performer and teacher, working with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The London Mozart Players and the Mercea String Quartet (specialising in the performance of music by contemporary British composers). In South Africa, Sue played with the Opera and Ballet Orchestra in Pretoria, and was principal violin for The Melbourne Theatre Company’s productions of ‘A Little Night Music’, ‘Into the Woods’ and ‘Company’ by Stephen Sondheim.

Since returning to Melbourne to live, Sue has held the position of Head of Strings at Presbyterian Ladies’ College and Head of Junior Strings at Scotch College in Melbourne.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of London, UK and a Masters of Music (Performance Teaching) from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
