Kelly Tang began studying violin at the age of six, with Christine Myers.  She enjoyed her school years on a full music scholarship to MLC school, performing at a young age as a soloist and chamber musician.  Further studies in Sydney lead her to graduate with first class honours from the Sydney Conservatorium, where she studied with Professor Goetz Richter and Christopher Kimber. In 2012, she participated in the Neuburg Summer Academy under the tuition of Professor Michael Friedrich, and was invited to join the Obersdorf Orchestral Academy.  In 2013 she was awarded the violin fellowship with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and performed as a soloist with the Sydney Symphony Sinfonia.  Kelly is also a frequent performer with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Chamber Opera.  She is an avid supporter of Australian music, having focussed her thesis on the emergence of Australian music today.  She frequently performs music by notable and emerging Australian composers, both at home and overseas, and is a featured soloist on Matthew Hindson’s CD for String players.
